- KSU INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CELEBRATE DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL. ANYONE FOR RICE DUMPLINGS?
Published Date：2011-06-20The Dragon Boat Festival is usually a time when people use the extended holiday to return home to visit relatives. Understanding that the KSU international students may experience a little homesickness during this time, KSU prepared special rice dumplings for these students. KSU President Yan-kuin Su said that Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important holidays in Taiwan, and that rowing the boats in the Dragon Boat Race and eating rice dumplings is a favorite Taiwan past time. He continued on to say that every year during important holidays the school invites the international students to participate in various festivities, such as Chinese Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival. Ensuring that the international students would have the opportunity to experience the mouth-watering taste of rice dumplings, the KSU President personally went to the dormitories and delivered dumplings to the international students and encouraged the students to go and see the dragon boat festivities. When the President gave the dumplings to the students, they were very surprised and this gave them a warm and friendly feeling about the university. Not only did the students experience the food, they also organized a dragon boat racing team and participated in the dragon boat races and thus had a very personal experience of Taiwan folk culture.
KSU has recently established both a Bachelor Degree and a Master Degree in International Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Master in Business Administration. These three programs use English as the language of instruction. Over 100 students have already enrolled in these programs from the following countries: Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Panama, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia and 54 students from mainland China.
