- KSU Foreign Students Gathering to Celebrate Christmas
Published Date：2013-01-17To welcome the annual Christmas, KSU held a party for all the international students before the holiday, providing delicacies, lucky draw activities, and several good shows from students. The party, helping relieve students’ homesickness, also offered them an opportunity to experience a different style of Christmas in Taiwan.
Yen-Yi Lee, the Director of KSU International Affair Office, stated that the purpose of the party was to foster more exchanges and interaction among foreign students on Christmas. Consequently, nearly a hundred students from Central and South America (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, Gambia), Africa (Burkina Faso), Asia (China, Malaysia), and the overseas students from Indonesia gathered to celebrate the holiday. To create a Christmas atmosphere, in addition to the occasional decoration and music, a Christmas Wishing Wall was set up to post all the messages and wishes of all the students. Additionally, the lucky draw activity and performances of acoustic guitar playing and ballroom samba dancing further made the party come alive!
As a result, the party succeeded in delighting all the international students. Angel Bernal Menendez Cifuentes, a fourth-year student from Guatemala majoring in the KSU Mechanical Engineering Department, said that he had really enjoyed the Christmas culture for four years at KSU, since people in his country hardly ever celebrated the holiday. The Chinese student, Ssu-Chi Liang, from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising also expressed her pleasure in joining the party.
