Department of International Trade

Areas of Concentration

With a rapid economic development related to world globalization, the goal of this department is to train students for international business professionals with a global view. Students will be proficient in both theoretical and practical knowledge, communicate fluently in both English and Japanese, build up the ability in developing, analyzing and deciding the international markets and financial management, and able to plan and manage the business modernization and as well as develop the ability in electronic commerce.

Realm

KSU's Department of International Trade stands as one of the best undergraduate programs of its kind in Taiwan. This reputation can be attributed to the excellent students and teachers, the many opportunities students have to obtain valuable practical experiences. @International Trade is a vibrant and rapidly evolving field, one that requires a combination of theory, empirical analysis, and field observation. The department's mission is to train professionals who will go on to make important contributions in marketing management, economics affairs between Taiwan and China, econometrics analysis, and financial management. In pursuit of this goal, the department has recruited outstanding teachers, expanded our facilities and cooperated closely with multinational corporations.

Curriculum

1. We use case studies to cultivate students ability in analysis and decision-making and emphasize abilities for expression and a sense of teamwork to build up an excellent interactive relation between students and teachers.
2. Courses that promote the future development of students are stressed. This department, considering students intention, assists them to build up their career goal either to gain the related certificates, to pursue further education or to enter business firms.
3. To meet the requirements and cultivate the international business and trade specialists, all the courses are classified into four major curriculums, designed into packages and learned step by step, to attain the effective use of the skills. The four major curriculums ]the four skill packages^are as followsG

   • The practice of International Trade
   • International Marketing Management
   • International Financial Management

Faculty

We have teachers with PHD degree in Financial Management, Business Management, Economics, International Economics and Statistics. All of these teachers have field experience in their profession. We seek to provide the students with theoretical and practical training and facilitate students to become professionalism with independent problem solving abilities.

Facilities

Professional classroom includes computer rooms, language labs, simulating trade company, self-study audio-visual center and audio-visual room and assisting facilities for diverse teaching and study.

Development

1. Improve the teacher's quality and facilities, applying for the establishment of graduate school so as to make our teaching goal sequential and complete.
2. Cooperate with trading companies by means of counseling service and research cooperation and provide a practice for students in order to facilitate the mutual support between the school and the enterprise.
3. Developing the curriculum and research in addition to promote electronic business management education.
4. Considering the faculty's specialties and interests, we set up a team for teaching and researching and to encourage them to participate the internships and research plans in a hope we can acquire the integrated research plans and international academic and technical exchange.

Outlook of Students' Career

1. Work in trade company as trade specialist, secretary, sales representatives and soon.
2. Employed in foreign or marketing department of the enterprise.
3. Operating the trading of currency exchange in exchange department of the bank.
4. Being agent of import and/or export business.
5. Own and manage trade company.
6. Participant civil examination, including banking, trade administration, economical administrationKetc.
7. Keep on higher level study.

Programs

We have two major programs, including four-year university and two-year technology.

Entrance

Students, graduated from high school or with equivalent are eligible for entering our under-graduate program. They could enter our university program via two means: through the traditional joint entrance examination or through the alternative channel of application process. Only ten percent of the class size will be allocated for the application process applicants. Technology program is similar.

Achievements

There are many journal paper in EI, SCI, ABI and TSSCI.
