Areas of Concentration
The Department of Spatial Design belongs to the School of Creative Media. Its educational aims differ from conventional departments of Spatial Design, whichare categorised by types of space., such as:Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Design, etc. Instead, it is divided by real and virtual environments. The department is divided into four groups: Urban and Landscape Design, Architecture and Interior Design, Digitalised Space and Environment Design, Performance Art and Art Environment Design.
Each group, emphasizes in cultivating future professionals trained in creative research and development, design practice and integration of professional techniquesfields of spatial design, simulation spatial design, interactive multimedia and environment design, digital contents design, 3D animation, marketing and execution of programs. The technical skills mentioned above have already become important tools of creative development, increasing the need for versatile technical professionals and design talents. The main aim of the Department of Spatial Design is to train graduates to fulfil this need.
Superiority
The Department of Spatial Design contains one major module and two elective modules, which are:
- Spatial Design
To develop spatial professional design ability such as interior, architecture and landscape, furthermore to train students using well of the material structure, space pondering social culture righteousness, as well as the feeling ability of spatial art and so on.
- Digital and Multimedia Design
To develop spatial professional design ability such as interior, architecture and landscape, furthermore to train students using well of the material structure, space pondering social culture righteousness, as well as the feeling ability of spatial art and so on.
- The stage and exhibition design
Exhibition space and digital stage design is the mainly development to advance the basic design concept of virtual reality scene and exhibition space, as well as the exhibition technology in practice.
The rise of young and digitalized social trend, various of professions have sense the globalization of impact towards them. Space related professions has been slow in market reflection in comparison to other industries. Students in school have opportunities on working with architecture practices and design firms on competition projects organize by local authorities. Enable to increase competition.
The programme has a good record of graduate employment, although there have been two years of alumnus. In these two years the majority of graduates have found employment working as part of a design team in on- line game, TV studio, architecture practices and retailing design firms, or in other design related roles. Other graduates also proceed to post-graduate study.
Graduates also can choose to apply post-graduate courses relate to architecture design, landscape design, interior design, multimedia design and art related courses. Graduates can also find themselves working confidently in the following area嚗. Architecture practice. B. Landscape design firms. C. Interior Design firms. D. Increasingly that a big proportion of market needs, we gradually see our graduates have limitless possibilities and bright future.
Research
There are 17 full-time academic staffs, who have graduated from well-known academic institutions in Taiwan and aboard, which include 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor and 12 lecturers. And there are 1 part-time technical lecturer and 19 part-time lecturers. There are 12 lecturers studying their PhD. There are four categories of research fields undertake by our full-time academic staffs, such as: 1. Urban and Landscape design. 2. Architecture and interior design. 3. Digitalized Spaces and environmental design. 4. Art environment, exhibition/ performance space design.
