Elective courses

  • Color planning
    This course introduces the elements and fundamental qualities of color. Student needs to know how to control the feeling of color.

  • Spatial experience
    This programme emphasizes experiences and records of spatial composition by utilizing the perceptions of human body. Senses of spatial design will be improved through this training.

  • Introduction of public art
    The course introduces the history of public art, and discusses the definitions and roles of public art in different periods.

  • An Introduction to Landscape in spatial culture
    The analytic approach of the introduction in urban design is structured into three sections: spatial structure, urban fabric and urban function.

  • Furniture Design
    This subject facilitates students to understand the relationships between furniture design, architecture, and interior design.

  • Design Concepts and Processes
    This course would like to introduce the evolving relationships between digital medias and design by the presentation of movie space. The last, is to enlightening students on design creative concepts by being analogy between nature and architecture.

  • Building Construction
    The aim of this course is to teach the general knowledge of building construction. In order to support the communications with other professions, students are trained to fully understand the meanings of different drawings.

  • Lamp Design
    This programme aims at the exploration of creative form and aesthetic concepts of lamp design.

  • A History of Western Architecture
    This course addresses a comprehension for the background of the development of the Western architecture.

  • Seminar of Spatial Design and Culture
    This course is composed of seminars and discussions, which focus on the studies of spatial issues. Students can take the contents to develop their design intentions and figural thinking.

  • Site Planning
    This course focuses on inspiration of planning ideas, thinking logic, and proposal writing

  • The History of Chinese Architecture
    Students can learn the creativities of spatial qualities and patterns from the Chinese architectural history.

  • Seminar of Spatial Design
    The teaching purpose is to investigate the relationships between sense organ and space. In order to establish a sound framework of space analysis and sense of scale, precise observation of space is the critical part of this course.

  • Advances of Computer Aided Design
    Based on the fundamental techniques of computer animation, students will learn the advance skills of constructing 3D interactive environments.

  • Building Enviromental Control
    The purposes of a good quality building environment are healthy, safety, and comfort. Students will learn the optimum conditions in many interior settings.

  • Introduction to Landscape Design
    Ecological resources and analysis will be emphasized in this programme to expand the visions of landscape design. Knowledge exchanges will form the capacity of solving environmental design problems.

  • Preservation of Historic Buildings (2-0-2)
    This course focuses on the developmental concepts, management, characters, meanings, and valuations of historic building preservation.

  • Sutdies and Criticisms of Design Precedents
    The learning methods of this course are studies and criticisms guiding students to explore design contents and creative intentions of well-known spatial design precedents.

  • Building Structural System
    This program will enhance students’ ability in the creativity, thinking logic, and presentation of building structural system.

  • Detail Desing
    This course aims to enhance understandings and applications of building materials by combining theories and practices, as well as considering both design and connect methods as a whole.

  • Environmental Psychology
    This course focuses on the interrelations between human, society, and environments. Students will also understand applications of those principles upon designing process.

  • Building Code
    Students will obtain relevant general knowledge of building code, bridging school training and actual practice.

  • Practice and Management of Design
    Establishment of understanding based on knowledge worker’s point of view to bring about students’ potential on design practice and management.

Visual Media Design Module- Common courses

  • Lighting Design
    By instructing theories of light, lighting fixtures, and computer-aided lighting design, students will learn the fundamental knowledge and design tools of lighting design.

  • Light and Spatial Composition
    This course explains characteristics of both natural and artificial lighting within the composition of space. Arrangements of light sources and design methods in various cases are also introduced.

  • Visual Representation
    By learning animation manipulation software, students can apply digital design media to the representations of spatial design.

  • Multimedia Environments Design
    The objective of this course is to integrate several audio-video effects and techniques of multimedia. Students can produce interactive audio-video CD ROMs with personal style.

  • Computer 3D Virtual Design
    Virtual space designing and interface design between space and users will be enhanced through the education and application of 3D interactive software.

  • Computer Visual Effects
    Relationships between interactive technologies and game designs can be fully understood by studying precedents.

Exhibition and Performance Design Module- Common courses

  • Environment of Drama
    Contents of the programme aim at the introduction on various form of performance art, diversities of performance space and spatial narratives, by the course of the development of time. It helps students to develop basic concepts of theatre performance, and to extent individual experiences on esthetic interests and abilities.

  • The Introduction of Exhibition Lighting
    The course aims toward the relationship of exhibition and artificial lighting, through the practice to conduct the subject upon case study.

  • Exhibition Design
    Realized in museums and exhibitions and other spaces, this subject gives an in-depth account of recent developments in the art of exhibition design.

  • Theatre / Stage Design
    The programme emphasizes on training students to have better cognition and subtle sense of concepts relate to theatre space. It also provides opportunities on understanding of basic theatrical design elements, to explore constitutions and forms of theatre spaces. At the same time get understanding the concept of “site- specific” theatre design through processing of performance project.

  • Business Space Display Design
    This course assists students to understand the operational experiences of the commercial space.
