Nano Technology Research & Development Center
EDUCAIOTNAL OBJECTIVE
The goal of the center is to organize the resources in the engineering school in Kun Shan University, including human resources and instruments. The center provides a common research platform to all of the researches of facilities and students to improve the total research ability in the school. The well trained students will have the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of nano technology. The center is also open to other schools, companies and research organizations. By running the center, it has the probability to build a good relationship with the high technology companies and other research centers and promote the academic position of Kun Shan University.
RESEARCH FIELDS
There are three main research field of the center, including nano opto-electric, application of nano technology in the human living and bio nanotechnology. Some projects have done in the center, such as nano conductive and transparent films,nano solar material,nano opto catalyst, nano composite, one dimension nano material,nano fiber,SPM technology,nano tribology,and carbon nano tube.
EDUCATIONAL CHARATERISTICS
Adapting to the demand of high technology industry, a course planning of nano technology will be proposed in the future emphasizes providing the basic knowledge of nano technology. The educational characteristics are:
- To strengthen the student ability to nano manufacture process and theoretical knowledge.
- Assist the students to promote to relative graduate school.
FACULTY AND FACILITIES
Based on the concepts of theory and practice are of the same importance, we all emphasize on the coordinating of both, no matter on the teacher employing or the facilities extension aspects. All of the faculties in the nano technology R&D center are professional with doctorate degree. About the facilities, we have the most advanced instruments needed in the field of nano technology. There are field emission scanning microscope, low angle X-ray diffractmeter, Ramman scattering spectrometer, photolumincence spectrometer, sputtering system, pasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system,I-V measurement system,ICP-CVD system, Hall effect measuring system,vacuum annealing system,etc.More facilities will be bought in the near future.
FUTURE OUTLOOK
- We are cordially inviting famous scholars to take our teaching offer, especially in the field of self assembly technology, nano magnetic material, nano biotechnology and nano battery technology.
- We are seeking the collaborating cases with other universities and research organization and encouraging our faculties to attain research projects from the National Science Council and any other organization and publishing their research results on the international journals.

The well trained students in the center will have the potential to access the high technology companies and graduate school. The possibility can be described below:
- High technological industry: electro-optical, semiconductor, thin film technology, advanced material, display industry etc.
- Graduate school: institute of electric engineering, institute of material science and engineering, institute of electro-optical science and engineering, institute of micro electro mechanical system engineering, Department of Engineering Science, Institute of Microelectronics ,etc.
