The Research and Development Dept. was established with the missions of promoting and integrating academic research and development, strengthening business relations and technological cooperative programs, encouraging and coordinating academic exchanges and cooperation domestically and internationally.
The Dept. is under the supervision of the Chief R&D Officer with three divisions as the follows: Project Promotion Division, Extended Education Division, and Career and Training Division. Each division is staffed a division chief, several assistants, and some administrative workers.
A. Project Promotion Division:
Aiming at increasing the competitiveness of the university, the division strives to work on integration of the research facilities and resources from departments, colleges, and research centers to maximize their functions, effects, and development. In addition, to strengthen both teachers and students capabilities of doing research and practical practice, the division devotes itself on helping teachers apply for projects funded by National Science Council or Ministry of Education, and holding conferences regarding the college students taking part of projects sponsored by NSC.
B. Extended Education Division:
The missions of the division are to provide students and members of the neighborhood communities with diversified educational programs and to promote the notion of life learning. Base on this notion, various types of learning programs are provided constantly by the division to learners in need. Certificates will be given to the learners if they successfully complete the programs they enroll. The division also cooperates with organizations such as Tainan City Government, Tainan County Government, National Youth Commission, Tainan Nan-Ying Community, and any public or private organizations to carry out series of training programs for students and citizens.
C. Career and Training Division:
The division is responsible for providing students with counseling services relevant to career and job plans, including (a)offering information and consultation to help students obtain all kinds of professional certificates or licenses, (b)proposing and activating awarding programs to encourage students in obtaining these certificates/licenses, (c)collecting information related to employment and vocational training, further academic studies, overseas studies, and major national examinations for students as references, and (d)inviting business organizations to hold on campus job-seeking-offering activities, conferences, and presentation. Moreover, with regard to the alumni services, the division makes its effort to gather alumni’s information, to assist organizing alumni association, and to keep close contact with alumni of the university.
